Other research from the Lockton and Levisham Heritage groups concerns two families - the Morley and the Garnetts - who, in 1830, were given money from the Poor Fund to enable them to emigrate to North America. We have details of the food they were given - and what it cost - for the journey and we believe they left Whitby in or around April 1830. But what happened to them when - if - they arrived in America, we don't know.

ReplyDeleteHave tried a kibrary in Canada but they never responded.
ReplyDeleteNorth Yorkshire Libraries have a subscription to ancestry.com which anyone can use for free on the public computers in any North Yorkshire library. Might be well worth searching there if this hasn't been tried.
